The Port of Morrow is looking for a Full Time SAGE Center Manager

The SAGE Center Manager will provide overall management of the SAGE Center, an interactive visitor center operated by the Port of Morrow. General duties include staff and volunteer management, marketing and outreach, and event coordination. Qualified applicants must have a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college in a related field. 

Overall purpose and objective of this position:

Overall management of the SAGE Center, an interactive visitor center operated by the Port of Morrow in Boardman, Oregon.  General duties include fiscal, staff and volunteer management; marketing and outreach to business, industry, and the community on local, regional and state levels; event oversight.

Major responsibilities

Define, recommend and implement SAGE Center operation procedures

  • Create staffing schedule for SAGE Center visitation and events
    • Recruit and train all volunteer and paid staff
    • The SAGE Center manager’s position will require some night and weekend hours as needed for operational, marketing and event oversight purposes
  • Building maintenance oversight
    • Recommend daily, periodic and long term maintenance needs and procedures
      • Establish the most cost effective manner to deliver maintenance services, ie:  SAGE Center staff v. subcontractor
  • Identify and obtain the equipment necessary for center operations
    • Office and maintenance operations
    • Catering and events

Implement tourism strategy

  • Build relationships with state and regional tourism partners
  • Increase SAGE Center visibility through marketing and promotions
    • Attend statewide and regional tradeshows

Develop working relationships with port tenants, industry leaders and the local educational community in order to:

  • Assure that exhibits and information remain current
  • Establish youth educational programs and visitation opportunities in cooperation with Education Coordinator
  • Determine usage needs
    • I.e.:  trainings, event hosting, student visitations

Develop and execute marketing campaign

  • Identify, design and implement appropriate print, internet and media advertising and support materials
  • Make presentations about the SAGE Center to local, state and northwest organizations
  • Identify funding opportunities including grants and contributions

Fiscal and budget coordination

  • In coordination with the Port, develop annual marketing budget
  • Review and file daily financial information from visitation and events
  • Credit card reconciliation and reporting
  • Code and submit invoices to accounts payable
  • Review fiscal operations and budget with the Port of Morrow General Manager, the Port of Morrow Commission and/or other persons as designated

Observe and report on the visitor experience to the Port of Morrow General Manager, the Port of Morrow Commission and/or other persons as designated

  • Recommend changes, editions and/or deletions to SAGE Center operations and exhibits as needed to assure a quality visitor experience

The SAGE Center manager shall be able to react to change productively and handle other essential tasks as required.

The Port of Morrow is an EOE and offers competitive wages and benefits.  Wage will DOE. Salary ranges from $60,000-$75,000.
